Awards delight for Southwell Racecourse

Southwell Racecourse was delighted to be named as winners of the Training and Staff Development Award at the 2011 Newark Business Awards.  The annual awards took place at Kelham Hall on Tuesday 29th November in association with the Newark Advertiser

This Training and Staff Development Award was sponsored by Newark College with the judges looking for the company that demonstrated the most outstanding excellence in its approach to workforce development. All Companies entered into  this category had to demonstrate a clear and structured approach to staff recruitment, training, retention and development.

The judges were also keen to see evidence of specific employee development activities or strategies that had been successful in the organisation, and the impact they have had on the business, e.g. reduced staff turnover, improved retention, reduced recruitment costs, and contribution to business growth and profits.

David Roberts, Managing Director of Southwell Racecourse said "This wonderful achievement is entirely down to our highly regarded staff, embracing opportunities and consistently striving to be the best that they can be. We are both surprised and delighted and see this award as external verification that we as a company have a very effective approach to achieving business sustainability through people and the personal growth of our staff."
